Before cutting, ensure the avocado is ripe. A ripe avocado will yield slightly to gentle pressure but not feel mushy. If it's too hard, it needs more time to ripen.
Hold the avocado steady with one hand. With a sharp knife in the other hand, slice lengthwise around the pit. Rotate the avocado while keeping the knife steady to create a clean cut.
Once you’ve cut all the way around, gently twist the two halves apart. The pit will stay in one half of the avocado.
To remove the pit, carefully strike it with the blade of the knife so it sticks into the pit. Gently twist the knife to lift the pit out. Be cautious to avoid cutting yourself.
Take one half of the avocado and score the flesh in a criss-cross pattern, creating cubes. Be careful not to cut through the skin.
Use a spoon to scoop the scored avocado flesh out of the skin. It should come out easily, and you’ll have perfect cubes of avocado ready for use.
Repeat the same process for the second half of the avocado. Once both halves are cut and the pit is removed, you’re ready to enjoy your fresh avocado.
