11 Hidden Snake Plant Care Hacks Every Plant Parent Should Know

Let Soil Dry Completely: Snake plants thrive on minimal watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot, as they are highly tolerant of drought.

Use Well-Draining Soil: Plant your snake plant in a well-draining mix, such as cactus or succulent soil, to prevent water from sitting around the roots, which can lead to rot.

Keep in Indirect Light: While snake plants are adaptable, they prefer indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn their leaves, so place them in bright but indirect spots.

Rotate Regularly for Even Growth: To ensure that all sides of your snake plant grow evenly, rotate it 180 degrees every couple of weeks to allow equal exposure to light.

Clean the Leaves: Dust can accumulate on snake plant leaves, blocking sunlight and hindering growth. Gently wipe them with a damp cloth every few weeks to keep them shiny and healthy.

Repot When Rootbound: Snake plants prefer being slightly rootbound, but if they become too crowded in their pot, repot them in a slightly larger container every 1-2 years for optimal growth.

Fertilize Sparingly: Feed your snake plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can harm the plant.
