Señor Buscador Bows Out of Racing, Heads to Lexington Stud

Señor Buscador, a beloved 7-year-old racehorse, has officially retired from racing to begin his stallion career. Known for his impressive performances, including a victory in the $20 million Saudi Cup, Señor Buscador was preparing for the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational before his retirement was announced.

Why Señor Buscador Was Retired

After a routine workout at Gulfstream Park, owner Joey Peacock Jr. and trainer Todd Fincher decided it was time for Señor Buscador to retire. The horse completed a half-mile breeze in 49.75 seconds, but Fincher wasn’t satisfied with how the horse responded afterward.

In a heartfelt post, Peacock explained, “Our team was not completely happy with the way Señor Buscador came out of his work this morning. We would never run a horse that is not 100%. Pegasus is out. Buscador will head to Lexington sound to begin his stallion career. Señor, we will be forever grateful for the ride.”

A Remarkable Racing Career

Señor Buscador had a successful career, earning over $12.9 million and becoming one of the sport’s top names. His greatest achievement came with his win in the $20 million Saudi Cup, a testament to his talent and determination.

Over his 23-race career, Señor Buscador achieved seven wins, two second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes. While his recent performance in the Cigar Mile (G2) wasn’t his best—finishing ninth—his legacy as a champion remains strong.

A New Chapter as a Stallion

With his racing career behind him, Señor Buscador will now transition to a stud career in Lexington, Kentucky. Although details about his stallion deal have not yet been released, expectations are high given his impressive pedigree.

Bred by the Peacock family, Señor Buscador is a son of Mineshaft and out of Desert God mare Rose’s Desert. His bloodlines and racing success suggest he will be a valuable addition to breeding programs, passing on his talent and athleticism to future generations.

Señor Buscador’s retirement marks the end of a remarkable racing career, but it also opens a new chapter in his life as a stallion. From his Saudi Cup victory to his dedicated team’s care, his story is one of resilience and excellence. Fans and breeders alike are eager to see the impact he’ll make in his new role.
