Baffert's Strategy Pays Off: Tenma Wins Starlet Stakes, Eyes 2025 Kentucky Oaks

Starlet Stakes Victory: Tenma won the Grade 2 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos, securing a place among top 3-year-old fillies for 2025.

Strategic Decision: Trainer Bob Baffert skipped the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies to focus on the Starlet, a decision that paid off with a strong win.

Career-Best Beyer: Tenma earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 83 in the Starlet Stakes.

First-Time Pacesetter: Tenma set the pace for the first time in her career, holding off a late challenge from Look Forward to win by 1 3/4 lengths.

Baffert’s Record: This victory gave Baffert his record eighth consecutive Starlet win and the 11th of his career.

Baffert’s Long-Term Goal: Baffert is eyeing the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs in May 2025 as a major goal for Tenma.

Promising Future: With 3 wins from 4 starts, Tenma is Baffert’s leading 3-year-old filly going into the winter of 2024.

Next Steps: Tenma is expected to race in several upcoming graded stakes, including the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes and the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks.
